See Clearly with Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can be a great alternative and offer many benefits to glasses. They provide clearer and crisper vision and allow for greater flexibility for those who play sports or require protective eyewear. They also offer a more natural field of view without fogging up.

There are so many different types and styles of contact lenses that there’s likely one that will work for you. Our experienced team can find you something best for your unique eye care needs and lifestyle. Do you have astigmatism, need bifocals, or want to wear contacts for a full month? There’s a lens for that!

If you want to explore the option of wearing contact lenses, a contact lens exam and fitting are essential for determining if they’re right for you. Because contacts sit directly on the eye (they make “contact”), they must fit comfortably and you must understand contact lens hygiene and safety.

We offer contact lens exams to check your overall eye health, update your vision prescription, and find the proper fit. If we determine that you aren’t a good candidate for contacts, for whatever reason, we will find the best corrective solution for you.

The Contact Lens Exam

A contact lens exam involves all the same tests as a comprehensive eye exam but also looks for eye health issues that could specifically interfere with the comfort of contact lens use. Those who suffer from chronic eye infections, have allergies, or work in dirty and dusty environments may not benefit from wearing contacts.

If you already wear contacts, we’ll assess the fit of your current lenses and discuss how they’re working for you. We’ll evaluate your eye health and look for issues that may be caused by the contacts. If needed, we can look at different lens types or adjust your prescription.

The Contact Lens Fitting

The fitting is designed to take measurements so we can properly fit your contact lenses. If contacts don’t fit well, they can cause discomfort, blurred vision, or tissue damage.

During your fitting, we will:

Once we have assessed your ocular health and have your measurements, we’ll move onto the fitting. We’ll give you a trial pair of lenses that you’ll insert while in our office.

You’ll have to wear them for 15 to 20 minutes, and then we’ll examine the fit, movement, and tearing in your eye. If they look good, we’ll order them for you and send you home with the trial pair.

We will also take this time to go over proper contact lens care and hygiene, wear time, storage, and how to insert and remove your lenses.

We will likely have you come in for a follow-up appointment to check that your contacts are still fitting well and that your eyes are adjusting properly. If you’re experiencing any discomfort, we can provide recommendations.

Sometimes, it takes a bit of trial and error to find the right lenses.
